Specialist Chartered Physiotherapist
Vivobarefoot certified coach
Lou is a Specialist Chartered Physiotherapist based in Cornwall UK. She has a strong academic background in Physiotherapy, Pain Science and Sports Science that enables her to work with a diverse population of clients. Her special interests include running injuries, running technique, tendinopathies and lower back pain. She has extensive post-graduate training and uses the very latest, evidence-based treatment and diagnostic protocols.
Lou set-up Cornwall Physio in 2010 with the goal of providing gold-standard pain and sports injury treatments for the county. She regularly works with sports people including professional athletes and international competitors. The popularity of Cornwall Physio with runners throughout the south-west, prompted the development of the Natural Running Clinic, to take care of running-specific treatments and provide useful information, blogs and discussions specifically for runners.
Lou has an MSc in Physiotherapy, as well as an MSc in Pain Science from Kings College London. She has been taught by, and worked alongside, some of the most highly regarded international experts in musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Prior to qualifying as a Physiotherapist Lou gained a BSc (Hons) degree in Sport & Exercise Science, and she is also an experienced Personal Trainer, Strength & Conditioning coach and fitness enthusiast. In 2012 she completed an extended literature review of Achilles tendinopathy, critiquing existing research from a pain science perspective. She is currently writing on the topic of pain and treatment mechanisms in tendinopathies.
Lou has a professional goal of bringing clinical practice in-line with recent advances in our understanding of pain and injury. She is available for lectures or presentations to health care practitioners, universities and sports clubs.
